Jose A. Mu\u00f1oz-Moreno is a clinician and researcher at the Lluita contra la SIDA Foundation, located in the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). He earned the Ph.D. degree in Neurosciences in 2012 (Cum Laude<\/i>), and currently he is also a collaborating professor with the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB).<\/p>\n

Mu\u00f1oz-Moreno is involved in projects that address psychology and the human behaviour associated with HIV infection. In terms of study, he mostly investigates the neurocognitive features of HIV infection, the impact of HIV and antiretroviral treatments on quality of life and emotional status, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy.<\/p>\n

Mu\u00f1oz-Moreno\u2019s recent work particularly focuses on assessment methods to detect HIV-related neurocognitive changes and the current profile of neurocognitive impairment in people living with HIV infection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    He is temporary Assistant Professor at the University of Torino (Department of Medical Sciences, Infectious Diseases). Infectious Diseases Specialist (University of Torino, Italy); Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand). He is member of the Panel of the Italian Guidelines on the Use of Antiretrovirals and Management of patients living with HIV.<\/p>\n

    He has experience as a Clinicians in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (Sudan, Thailand, Burundi); several phase II, III and IV studies in antiretroviral treatment trials.<\/p>\n

    Gabriele Arendt, MD.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Gabriele Arendt, MD, is associate Professor in Neurology, University Hospital of Duesseldorf, Germany. Since 1987, she chairs the Neuro-AIDS out-patient department of the hospital with about 1100 patients\/year. The Duesseldorf HIV cohort comprises by now almost 5000 patients. She acquired her medical and scientific degrees in the University of Duesseldorf, then specialised on psychiatry and later on neurology and neurophysiology. Her scientific interest focuses on motor abnormalities in HIV-positive patients, disturbances of the dopaminergic pathways in these patients and on the significance of cytokines for the neuropathogenesis of HIV-associated dementia.<\/p>\n

    She is in the editorial boards of the Journal of NeuroVirology, the Journal of NeuroAIDS and of Neurobehavioral HIV Medicine, an open access journal. She is a member of the German Aids Society. She has written more than 150 papers, HIV\/AIDS chapters in most of the German standard textbooks and three books. She has designed and conducted many national multicenter studies and participated in international studies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Maria Ferrara, MD.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Maria Ferrara M.D. graduated in 2007 at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She completed her residency in adult Psychiatry at the same University in 2012 and she has been working as full time psychiatrist in a community mental health center in Modena, Italy since then. She also obtained a Master Degree in Neuropharmacology in 2012. She is Vice President of HIV\/AIDS Psychiatry Section for World Psychiatry Association and member of Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine Special Interest Group of HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n

    As part of her education as resident in psychiatry, she attended the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (San Diego, California) as visiting scholar conducting a research about metabolic side effects of the combined use of antipsychotics and antiretrovirals. In 2012 she was granted for a research project on the correlation between neurocognitive skills and CNS penetration of antiretroviral therapy at the HIV metabolic Clinic in Modena.<\/p>\n

    She was selected and scholarship awarded to attend the first European psychiatric Association Summer School in \u201cComorbidity between mental & Physical Disorders\u201d in 2012 and the European College of NeuroPsychopharmacology (ENCP) School of Neuropsychopharmacology, Oxford (UK) in 2013. She is now Post-Doc Associate at Yale University, conducting research within the STEP Project on First Episode Psychosis (http:\/\/www.step.yale.edu\/).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    \nOne of the major fields of practice is with HIV patients with a psychiatric outpatient clinic dedicated to this condition. Author of scientific publications, mainly in the areas of neurocognitive disorders, depression, anxiety and psychopharmacology and antiretroviral interactions.

She is Specialist in Internal Medicine (2001-2006) and achieved her PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2009 (PhD Extraordinary Award). Since November 2006 works at HIV Day Care Hospital, Infectious Diseases Service, Hospital Cl\u00ednic-IDIBAPS, Barcelona, as Medical Researcher. She takes part in frequent national and international clinical trials in relation to patients with HIV infection and HIV- HCV co infection. She has been recipient of Spanish public healthcare grants as Rio Hortega (CM07\/00136) and Sara Borrell (CM13\/00123). She has been accredited since 2014 by ANECA (The National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain) as Profesor Contratado Doctor (Contracted Lecturer with Doctorate). She teaches the subject Infectious Diseases in the Medicine Degree and in the AIDS Master as Assistant Lecturer at University of Barcelona. Her main areas of clinical and research interest are evolution and treatment of general HIV infection and acute HCV co infection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Lawrence McGlynn, MD.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Lawrence McGlynn is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA.\u00a0He graduated with a degree in Mathematics and enjoyed a career in the mathematical modeling of fiber optic electronics prior to entering the field of medicine.<\/p>\n

    He completed his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and an internship in\u00a0Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City.\u00a0Subsequently he returned to Harvard to complete his residency in Psychiatry, focusing on HIV and Latino Mental Health.<\/p>\n

    Dr. McGlynn now\u00a0serves on the faculty of Stanford University School of Medicine where he treats those living with HIV\/AIDS.\u00a0He also serves as Director of the Stanford Methamphetamine Task Force.\u00a0Nationally he is the former Chairman of the Office of HIV for the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and currently holds a seat on the Council of Psychosomatic Medicine for the APA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    She is currently working as senior physician at the Department of Infectious Diseases and responsible of the Neurovirology Research Unit at the Research Division of Immunology, Transplantation and Infectious Diseases of San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy, and as contract Professor of Infectious Diseases at San Raffaele University.<\/p>\n

    Her research group is mainly involved in studies on HIV Infection of the Central Nervous System, Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy and other HIV-associated CNS complications.<\/p>\n

    Scott Letendre, MD.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Scott Letendre, M.D., is Professor of Medicine in Residence in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and, following his residency in internal medicine at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, he completed fellowships in Infectious Disease Medicine at Duke University and in Neurologic HIV Research at UCSD. At UCSD, Dr. Letendre performs translational, patient-oriented research of the central nervous system complications of chronic infections, including HIV, HCV, and CMV. As part of a multidisciplinary research team, he conducts treatment trials of neurocognitively impaired individuals and analyzes their response to therapy as well as studies of the pharmacokinetics of antiretrovirals, the effect of comorbidities, and biomarker correlates of disease. Dr. Letendre is also an investigator in the UCSD unit of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group.<\/p>\n

    He participates in several international research projects, including projects based in China, India, Zambia, and Romania. Dr. Letendre balances his research activities with regular, clinical outpatient and inpatient care of people living with HIV and other infectious diseases. Dr. Letendre also teaches in the Microbiology course at the UCSD School of Medicine and chairs the UCSD Institutional Biosafety Committee. Dr. Letendre has published in several peer-reviewed journals including AIDS, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Journal of Virology, Journal of Neurovirology, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, and Journal of Neuroimmunology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
